Geospatial World Forum - Scientific conference on smart agriculture

You must be aware that the 21st century agriculture sector has turned into a high-tech enterprise. Over the past 20 years the ICT, Geospatial Technologies- GPS, GIS, Remote sensing, Satellite Imageries and other new technologies likes Drones and electronic sensors have converted farming into a technological wonderland. The ultimate purpose of all this high-tech gadgetry is optimization, from both an economic and an environmental standpoint. The development of flying robots makes us wonder ‘Can field-crop scouting, which is currently done by humans, be done by modern UAVs?’

To find an answer to such questions, Geospatial Media and Communications is gearing up to bring a team of researchers, policy makers, and practitioners from various regions, for a premier scientific conference on smart agriculture, which is being held from 24- 25 January, 2017, during Geospatial World Forum (taking place from 23- 24, January), in Hyderabad, India.

With the theme: “GeoAgri- Navigating the change’’, the symposium aims to explore new frontiers of agricultural computerization. There will be discussions on national and international case studies, which will allow operators and stakeholders to understand the recent progress in precision & other latest farming technologies. Advantages, challenges and future development perspectives will be highlighted. The symposium will focus on ICT & Geographical Information Systems and their linked applications, created to support future agricultural practices and food security.

Special Focus:

  • Precision Agriculture
  • Information Technology and Agriculture: Global Challenges and Opportunities
  • Weather information representation, analysis and application for agriculture
  • Agricultural finance services for small holder farmers
  • Enhancing Agri research support to large scale investment programs
